How to Organize Topics in Your Coupon Book

One of our favorite coupon sites is KrazyCouponLady, or 'Pick another checkout lane, honey!' Nestled in the KCL site, which is chocked full of great couponing information, is an organizational scheme for coupon files. We started with that scheme, but have since re-touched and refined it to our liking.

The Main Categories - Our Coupon Book is divided into four main categories:

Grocery
Refrigerated and Frozen
Household
Personal Care

You may want to add other categories like Restaurants, Automotive, Online Retailers, and anything else that floats your boat. The four above, however, are essential for everyday supermarket shopping, and that's what we do the most.

Subcategories - For each main category there are several subcategories. Each subcategory corresponds to one section of your coupon book. In addition to the subcategories, we give a short list of example items in each of them.

GROCERY

Fresh Produce	Fresh fruits, veggies, refrigerated juices, dressings, and anything else in the Produce section
Canned Fruits and Vegetables	Applesauce, fruit cups, canned tomatoes, pasta sauce, baked beans, etc.
Dried Foods	Beans, rice, pasta, knorr, noodles, instant potatoes, lentils, etc.
Breakfast	Cereal, oatmeal, toaster pastries, syrup, pancake mix, breakfast bars, etc.
Baking	Flour, sugar, oil, cake mix, frosting, chocolate chips, raisins, evaporated milk, shortening, etc.
Non-Refrigerated Drinks	Juice, coffee, tea, drink mix, hot cocoa mix, creamer, powdered drinks
Soup	Canned soup, broth, dry soup mix, bullion cubes
Condiments	Salad dressing, mayo, mustard, ketchup, soy sauce, etc.
Breads and Desserts	Bread, cakes, pies, fruit snacks, cookies, energy bars, granola bars, etc.
Snacks	Nuts, PBandJ, crackers, chips, pretzels, popcorn, snack mix
Candy	Jelly beans, MandMs, chocolate, etc.
Baby Food	Formula, jarred food, special foods, etc.
